Alfred Nicol collaborated with Rhina Espaillat and illustrator Kate Sullivan to create the chapbook Brief Accident of Light: Poems of Newburyport (Kelsay Books, 2019). Nicol’s most recent full-length collection of poetry, Animal Psalms, was published in 2016 by Able Muse Press. He has published two other collections, Elegy for Everyone (2010), and Winter Light, which received the 2004 Richard Wilbur Award. His poems have appeared in Poetry, the New England Review, Dark Horse, Commonweal, The Formalist, The Hopkins Review, Best American Poetry 2018, and many other literary journals and anthologies. Nicol lives in West Newbury, Massachusetts, with his wife, Gina DiGiovanni.
