Ruth Sawyer (August 5, 1880–June 3, 1970) wrote fiction and nonfiction for children and adults. Her book Roller Skates won the 1937 Newbery Medal. In 1965 she received the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for contribution to children's literature.
