    Phil Christman teaches first-year writing at the University of Michigan and is the editor of the Michigan Review of Prisoner Creative Writing. His work has appeared in the Christian Century, Paste, Books & Culture, the Hedgehog Review, and other publications. His most recent book is Midwest Futures. His essay collection How to be Normal will appear in February 2022. He works to bring light to the art and creativity of American prisoners alongside his wife, Ashley Lucas.
