Watchman Nee, or Nee T’o-sheng (1903–1972), was born in China to a Christian family. A conversion at age seventeen set his life on the path of ministry. He wrote many books, including The Spiritual Man (1928) and The Normal Christian Life (1940). He established many churches in China and was persecuted, spending the last twenty years of his life in prison.
