    Gerhard Lohfink (1934–2024), a Catholic priest and theologian, was professor of New Testament studies at the University of Tübingen. He has written many books, including Does God Need the Church?, Jesus and Community, and Jesus of Nazareth: What He Wanted, Who He Was.
