Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano lived from 1940 to 2015. His most widely read works include Memoria del fuego (Memory of Fire Trilogy, 1986) and Las venas abiertas de América Latina (Open Veins of Latin America, 1971). His writings have been translated into many languages.
