    Friedrich Wilhelm Foerster (1869–1966) was a German philosopher, theologian, and professor, best known for publicly opposing German militarism and Nazi regime. Fleeing the Gestapo via Portugal, Foerster escaped to the United States. He lived in New York City until 1963, when he moved to Switzerland to spend his final years.
