Giovanni Papini (1881–1956) was an Italian journalist, critic, poet, and novelist. As a young man he founded a literary magazine in Florence, Leonardo, and wrote several antitraditionalist books. He was also a leader of Italian Futurism during this time. In 1921, Papini reconverted to the Roman Catholicism in which he had been raised; he then wrote a number of religious works, including The Story of Christ.
