This thoughtfully curated collection is remarkable for its range and breadth. The stories come from all over the world and represent many genres, such as parables, animal fables, historical fiction, fairy tales and Christian fantasy. Most of the stories are from the first half of the 20th century, but the earliest is from an 1857 edition of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, and the most recent selections were written in 2015. Definitely read these stories at Easter, but keep the book close and pull it out whenever you and your family need a reminder of the great Easter themes of transformation, reconciliation and the triumph of life over death.

I enjoyed reading this book, especially during Lent and Holy Week. I usually write and read devotions throughout Lent, so it was pleasurable to read some excerpts and stories from classic writers of the past, as well as from different cultures from the world. The Easter stories throughout the book added to my spiritual preparation for Holy Week. As an artist, I also enjoyed the wood engraving prints contained in this wonderful collection of Easter stories. This is a book that I will continue to read and re-read for years to come.
Seriously, the first thing that impressed me about this book was the quality of the binding, even before I started reading. The craftsmanship that went into this book is just another bonus to an already superb literary work. This collection of stories from the masters is a thought-provoking, challenging, and uplifting adventure in prose and poetry, all with one aim in mind: to lift Him up! They’ve succeeded. This is a short review, because to cover every contribution to this anthology would make for a rather lengthy one. Which would keep you from diving in and relishing the offerings from some of the world’s finest literary minds. So please, don’t let me stop you. Get in there! The crown jewels have nothing on this book! 5 stars for a collection of timeless treasures!
All of the stories in this collection share the rich Christian imagery of life through death. In a world that co-opts Easter for stories of the Easter Bunny and painted eggs, Easter Stories contains the best collection of stories for Lent and Easter imagery that I've ever read.… Easter Stories is a book for families, to read and share year after year. It a real treasure for Christians.
