If you’re serious as a Christian, you want to think about what the church has taught about economics. Well, it’s taught the common good. It’s Catholic social teaching. It’s a recognition that we don’t live in a classless society, that we live in societies that are riven by class and that the higher owes something to the lower, that there is such a thing as a common good, that we should collectively ensure that workers have certain rights which they can only collectively secure. That’s why the church has historically supported labor unionism.
