    Matthew King used to teach philosophy at York University in Toronto, Canada. He now lives in what Al Purdy called “the country north of Belleville,” where he tries to grow things, counts birds, and takes pictures of flowers with bugs on them. He won the 2020/21 FreeFall Magazine poetry contest and was shortlisted in the 2023 Kim Bridgford Memorial Sonnet Contest, and has poems published or forthcoming in places such as Rattle, Pulsebeat, Orchards Poetry Journal, and Best Canadian Poetry.
